Of Tritons & Mermaids for Malta Pride 18

#Mermaids & #Tritons have a special link for the #LGBTQ+ Community. They are essentially '#Queer' and throughout history, these creatures have been linked to #genderfluidity

Everyone has heard of Disney's 'The Little Mermaid - Part of your World'. The lyrics were written by Howard Ashman, a gay man who whilst working on the film was diagnosed with #HIV. The lyrics in themselves resonate a lot with the rainbow community in wanting to be part of a world in which they are not accepted.

Our representation of this year's Malta Pride is in line with the theme 'Pride in the heart of the Mediterranean'. Karly Naudi, the mermaid that represents all of us in the rainbow community, brings forth color, light & creativity to a world which can many times seem gloomy and oppressive.

Pride does not exist to gloat of our sexuality and rub it in other people's faces, it is a reminder to society that we exist at every sphere of life without being apologetic for who we truly are.
