 | A symbol is something such as an object, picture, written word, sound, or particular mark that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention. Yes that is the definition, but it's common for many groups, movements and organisations to have a symbol that represents themselves. For example the red ribbon, a symbol of World AIDS Day.
